The nukik© housing system is under construction in Ilulissat with 24 homes for the Greenland Self-Government and a further 24 for Avannaata Municipality, so that the developers benefit from a shared construction site and employment.
The Nukik© housing for the Greenland Self-Government consists of 6 buildings, each with 2 3V and 2 4V apartments.
The new local area A32 in Ilulissat will have a road construction that ensures that all homes have the best possible view of the harbor and ice fjord to the southwest. The buildings have living rooms and recreation rooms to the southwest and a view of the harbor and the mouth of the ice fjord.
The characteristic wing stairs lead to a covered entrance to the residence and depot, which is well protected from rain and snow and lives up to the name nukik, which means strong and powerful in Greenlandic. The buildings are configured in pairs with 3V or 4V apartments as needed. The Greenland Self-Government buildings each contain 2 3V and 2 4V.
The apartments are compact and well-insulated and all have their own balcony. Ventilation systems are in the technical room with centrally located access on the wing staircase. The housing system makes it possible to equip the depot with a steel sink for use, among other things, for catches from hunting and fishing.
3V is net 68.8 (82 m² gross)
4V is net 81.8 (95 m² gross)
The homes' floor plans make it possible to divide the living room from the dining area with a free-hanging wooden sliding wall. There are concrete floors with underfloor heating that are comfortable to walk or play on, and they are durable for homes with many changing tenants.
The project is focused on sustainability in construction, optimal land use and low complexity. The construction is aimed at target groups with lower incomes and it has therefore been an important prerequisite from the beginning of the design process to achieve savings on the concrete elements which were optimized so that 3V and 4V versions are almost 90% identical.
The Nukik© housing for Avannaata Kommunia consists of 6 buildings. 2 buildings contain 8 2V apartments each and 2 buildings each contain 4 3V as described above.
The buildings with 2V apartments are built in the same style as the others in the nukik© housing system. The apartments are laid out on two floors and two staircases per building, 8 apartments in each building. The arrival deck is a bridge over the terrain with discretion from the shelters and stairs to the 1st floor. The apartments are for singles or couples and all have their own balcony. All areas including the hallway are used for functions.
2V is net 36.3 m² (55 m² gross including depots and common technical room)
