NUUK
B-29 Residence for the President of the Greenlandic Republic
Client: Naalakkersuisut / Greenland Self-Government
Project: B-29 Residence for the President of the Greenland Government
Reconstruction and modernization of the B-29
Realized: 2011
Location: Nuuk, Greenland
The residence of the President of the Greenlandic Republic on Hans Egedes Road in the old colonial port of Nuuk had to be rebuilt due to decay in the woodwork. B-29 was originally a doctor's residence.
Qarsoq was responsible for both the renovation project and construction management of the preservation-worthy building, which, in addition to being the official residence of the highest office in Greenland, also houses smaller, representative events.
The building has been rebuilt according to new building practices with better insulation but with details like the original building, including shingles that are characteristic of some of the old buildings in Kolonihavnen.
The floor plan is 162 m² and total gross area 362 m².
