Accommodation for regional hospitals
Locations: Sisimiut, Ilulissat, Qaqortoq, Nuuk
Client: Greenland Self-Government
Realization: Planned 2026-2028
The buildings ensure temporary accommodation for patients, relatives and employees on monthly contracts within a short walking distance of each hospital.
The four regional hospitals have a classic design and stand as older, yellow-painted wooden buildings (although red in Ilulissat) with gable roofs. The goal is for the new buildings to support the architecture of the hospitals and ensure that life between the buildings is easily legible and harmonious.
There is a great need for the compact 1 and 2 room units. All have the same, spacious entrance hall and a large bathroom that can be equipped for wheelchair use, etc. There are also kitchen facilities in all units and the building has an elevator.
At 3 floors, the building has 11 units and technical room/depot as standard with a gross floor area of 650 m² per building.
The need is covered for each region in the following way:
Sisimiut: One 3-story building, where two units are combined into a 3-room residence for the use of a doctor, with a total of 10 units.
Ilulissat: Four buildings on 3 floors with a total of 44 rooms divided into 32 one-room and 12 two-room units.
Qaqortoq: One 3-story building with a total of 11 units.
Nuuk: 3 buildings of 4 floors and 1 building of 5 floors with a total of 64 units.
The project has been created in close collaboration with the Greenland Self-Government and the Hospital Service in Greenland.
