IKERASAK
Mini sports hall for Ikerasak - and other settlements
Project: Mini sports hall for Ikerasak - Ikerasanni Timersortarfik
Developer: Avannaata Municipality
Phase: Draft plan 2024
Realization: Expected 2027-2028
Simple standard mini-gym for Ikerasak and other small settlements so that residents can exercise year-round indoor and increase their overall health.
In addition to the hall, there are training rooms on the first floor for Arctic sports, fitness, strength training, etc., either operated as a municipal service or leased by private operator.
The hall is oriented along the falling terrain and close to the coast in Ikerasak. A classic wooden construction ensures buildability and the hall appears almost archetypically like a warehouse.
Windows in the hall are limited to a minimum to avoid sun glare and to reduce maintenance costs. The main entrance is covered from the landing on the 1st floor.
The construction is carried out with scissors roof trusses of ready-made sub-components that are assembled on site. A consistent cross-section has been chosen for buildability and cost.
The clear blue color of the vinyl floor is a good background for individual sports' court markings. The hall has a smaller court for futsal, a standard badminton court, a standard volleyball court without large serving areas or a smaller volleyball court with, and a small basketball court (without a 3-point line).
From the hall there is access to a depot where poles, nets and other accessories can be stored together with chairs and the like for other events. The walls and gable can be equipped with ribs or perhaps grips for a climbing wall according to local wishes. There is a small kitchenette for catering at events.
Gross floor area 473.27
