Halibut Greenland is constructing three new buildings to increase the area for production, warehouse and offices so that more of the production can be processed locally and create more local jobs.
The factory area at the harbor is a large workplace with lively physical activity; handling equipment and raw materials as well as the processed and packaged products.
Today, Halibut has the factory B-1910 and the bait house B-1936, as well as most of the surrounding areas used for storage. The new expansions will clear out a large part of the stored equipment, so it will be easier to navigate and move around the area in the future.
The three new buildings are:
New freezer room and refrigeration system
New raw material sorting with ice machine with unheated storage hall on the 1st floor
New raw material warehouse with new administration offices on the 1st floor
In addition, the existing factory B-1910 is being rebuilt for increased production and an improved lunch room for employees.
The new buildings are constructed, as far as possible, in the same materials as B-1910, which is a standard steel hall with insulated, light gray sandwich panels, white windows and doors, and a gable roof with dark gray roofing felt.
The buildings are positioned according to the production flow from the south where fish is loaded and to the north where packaged goods are shipped out.
Architecturally, the distribution of the rooms is entirely governed by functional needs. The layout is dimensioned according to large mechanical units, for example, grinders, ice machines, spiral freezers and refrigeration systems.
