Expansion ASIAQ
Project: Expansion of ASIAQ - Greenland Survey
Client: Greenland Self-Government
Phase: Project proposal
Sub-consultant: Inuplan A/S and ETP Consult ApS (EL)
ASIAQ - Greenland Survey is located in central Nuuk in a building that is now being expanded with storage and workshop facilities, depots and offices.
The building has a linear passageway on the ground floor for ASIAQ's landing craft via a gate, so the vessel is easy to get in and out of the building and correct accommodation and calibration of measuring equipment and GPS can be ensured under optimal circumstances.
The expansion ensures accessible and level-free access that ASIAQ lacks today and will also ensure level-free passage on the 1st floor from the existing building. A freight elevator enables internal packing and repositioning of shipping equipment on EUR pallets and trolleys.
A continuous windbreak will be a new and visible main entrance from Svend Junges Vej in the west and from the courtyard in the east, where there is parking.
The surveyors' work is optimized so that it is easy to pack the survey trip in the depot and subsequently unpack it close to the washroom, etc.
The warehouse has visual contact with the attic with a view from the staircase landing at ground floor level B-1111.
The extension will be a significant part of the new ASIAQ and will add a total of 3 floors of 313.5 m2 = 940.5 m2 with good facilities for employees.
When the facade of an existing older building is renovated, this can be done with corresponding zinc flashings on, for example, eaves and dormers, so that a common design language is created.
The Municipality's plan is to parallel shift and straighten Stephenson's path so that it forms a sidewalk along new developments such as Asiaq's expansion.
Here, the West Facade is active towards the path with windows to the metal workshop, warehouse and entrance, as well as the stair tower that will bring life to the area even in the dark.
